What is a Podiatrist?

Podiatrists are fully qualified allied health professionals who specialise in treating foot conditions. We offer a range of services and assessments and are governed by the Allied Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). 

What are the reasons to see a Podiatrist?

  • Pain in your feet (such as heel or arch pain), ankles or legs 
  • If you have diabetes – it is recommended that you have a foot check at least once a year.
  • Painful ingrown toenails, warts, corns, callous, painful bunion
  • You require foot supports (custom or prefabricated orthotics)
  • Footwear assessments and advice

Do I need a referral to see a Podiatrist?

No, a referral is not required. 

Does your clinic accept referrals under the enhanced primary care (EPC) plan?

Yes, if you have multiple chronic diseases you may be eligible for the enhanced primary care program. You will need to discuss this with your general practitioner. 

Are enhanced primary care plans bulk billed through Medicare?

Foot Fix clinic is not a bulk billing clinic however we will kindly submit the claim to Medicare on your behalf so you can receive your rebate in a timely manner. 

Can I claim the podiatry appointment through my private health fund?

Please contact your private health insurer to determine your eligibility and level of cover. If you are eligible, the clinic can process your claim on the spot through our HICAPS machine.

What can I expect from my first consultation?

The Podiatrist will discuss your medical history by asking a series of questions. A visual and physical assessment of your feet will then be performed to make a diagnosis. If required, a tailored treatment plan will be provided.

What should I wear and bring to the appointment?

Comfortable clothing that can easily be rolled up to the knee for easy access to your feet and legs. We recommend that you bring the shoes you wear regularly or any shoes you would like to discuss with the Podiatrist. If you have any foot orthotics, scans or reports from health care professionals bring those to the appointment as well. 

Do you have wheelchair access?

Yes. There are 6 steps to access the building, but a platform lift is available for patients with reduced mobility (crutches, walking frame or wheelchair) for easy access into the building. We are located on the first floor and the building has a lift.

Where is the best place to park?

Metered parking is available on Lyons Street. Alternatively Strathfield Plaza is close by and provides three (3) hours free parking. If you are in a wheelchair or have reduced mobility please phone the clinic for assistance. 

Is the clinic close to public transport?

Yes, the clinic is located 250m from Strathfield train station (Strathfield Square side) which is approximately a three minute walk. (Address: 104/27 Lyons St, Strathfield Sydney N.S.W. 2135) 

Do we provide home visits?

No, however we are happy to refer you to another provider.
